For the Longest Time

Ugh I am sorry bloggers, I have been totally slacking with the blog! I've been coming across so much inspirational stuff inbetween classes that I've been meaning to share and instead have just been tweeting about it because it is quicker. BUT an @ today supported my blog and I realized I need to keep up with it!
Okay, first is McQueen because his collection has been running through my head since it showed. SERIOUS shoes.

Don't they look like hoofs crossed with ballerina aliens? Haha well thats what I think of when I see these beauts.
Like those dead horse things in Harry Potter, but who constantly walk on pointe. Okay my imagination is irrelevant, what is important here is that the shoes are killer.

And the butterfly/Georgia O'Keefe skulls/symmetry print:

GORGEOUS.
Okay what else do I have for you you ask? What have I been doing in the city that has been occupying so much of my time that I cant post?

Cheap things of course. Today in between classes I went to some galleries on Rivington.
1. ALIFE Presents Clayton Patterson: L.E.S. Captured
Located at 157 Rivington St. and open Tues - Sun noon until 7pm, this small ALife affiliated gallery features vibrant photographs of the habitants of the L.E.S. from thirty years ago to present. My favorite part of the exhibit is the Front Door series; portraits of L.E.S.ers in front of their homes. The artist speaks on it saying "I was saving a presence, a spirit, the image of a person from the moment, the here and now, for the future. All of us were the Lower East Side."

This exhibit runs until November 8th, and I heard that this Sunday the artist will be at the exhibit.

2.Sloan Fine Art on the corner of Rivington and Norfolk, featuring Eric White and Daniel Davidson
White does artistic play on album covers, melting faces with globs of acrylic and adding comedic wording. The execution was stunning, you can see his work here. My favorite part of this gallery, however, was the back room, which featured Davidson's work. Davidson works with symmetry in black and white, very well might I add. There was a beautiful YSL cage shoe that he did as a double image, split down the middle but a perfect mirror image. You can see his work here!

This exhibit ends the 10th, so hurry in during the long weekend if you can get a chance!

3. Galleryonetwentyeight at 126 Rivington St. featuring Kazuko Miyamoto's "A la recherche du temps perdu" ( In search of a lost time)
Amongst her string and nail installations, I was particularly taken aback by her stunning kimonos. One was crafted out of newspaper, making an interesting collage of Chinese (I think) and American news headlines. Another kimono, hung from the ceiling, seemed weightless - a rice paper frame with a nude woman silkscreened on the front. Her sculptures are a beautiful mix of industrial and nature, and you all should check it out!!

Gallery hours are Wed - Saturday 1-7PM. This exhibit also ends on the 10th of October.

Before I go off to class I'll leave you with this, a collection of stunning photographs that I came across a few weeks ago and have been saving to post about. The colors and compositions are so inspiring.

SOONER RATHER THAN LATER BLOGGERS!
