I just watched the documentary Beauty Mark, about the disconnect between our minds and bodies. It focused on how media and culture alter our body images. It reminded me of a comment I recently saw on fashion toast; someone commented that it was "so cool" that Rumi eats and yet is so thin.
Since when was eating cool? Because last time I checked, eating was a necessity for survival. Fashion has a huge influence on body image, a sad example made of model Ana Carolina Reston, who died in 2006 of anorexia.
I was brought up to be very self confident and self assured, and I think that has a lot to do with my current positive body image.
Don't let yourself worry about how your stomach looks or if you have cellulite. Life is so much more enjoyable worry free, it really is. Eat what you like, dress how you want. Don't get caught up in other peoples opinions and never change yourself for someone else.
Diane von Furstenberg is one of my role models because she is really in touch with the "self." She is an advocate of self love, and she as said some very inspirational words towards it.
"When a woman becomes her own best friend life is easier."

thankyou for the comment, summer has just about arrivedf where i live and i love it :)

Well put. Part of what I love about reading blogs instead of magazines is seeing beautiful people of all shapes and sizes rocking what they love. I think it's rather sad (and outdated, really - hello Beth Ditto!!!) that people still think you have to be skinny to be fashionable.
