Keep it Together

A friend's status on facebook reintroduced me to Guster. Why did I forget about those guys? Their music is straight chillin'.

Anywho, I am feeling loads better today, as is the weather apparently, since it has gotten out of its rain rut for the day and the city is sparkling! I just wish that when it was this nice out there weren't so many people running about. Where do they all come from? I imagine them crawling out from in between pages of newspapers and out of the big construction holes in the ground at the first sign of sun. Because really, there are never this many people out.

I want to be strolling down Broadway on my way to Battery Park listening to a playlist of California music (Guster included) wearing this. Chris Benz did pretty good for spring as far as wearability. Too bad this outfit requires me to shave my legs, which I feel like I haven't in forever. Listen, it's really hard to shave your entire leg in a reasonable time frame when it's 36 inches long.

The water usually goes cold before I even get to the second leg's thigh.

My duuude Abdool from In This Big City just did an awesome post on restaurants that are open 24/7 in the city, featuring my fave Cafeteria. To further the duo's post, I just have to suggest to anyone who goes the Mac & Cheese Spring Roll appetizer along with the  Parmesan Truffle Fries with Gouda Dip. I like to dip the spring rolls in the dip for extra cheesy-heart-attack-goodness. It may not be healthy for your heart, but everything at this restaurant is excellent for the soul. The meatloaf dish is out of this world too.

It is a personal favorite at 4 in the morning after a long night of lots of dancing. There is always a line, though, so be prepared to wait. Once I was waiting with a girlfriend and we started chatting up two lovely sisters that didn't look a day over 24. They were actually two very successful 40-something business ladies who took a liking to my friend and I, saying that we reminded them of their younger selves. Well, as the line grew shorter the host asked for a party of four. We had gotten along well and none of us felt like waiting any longer, so we all took the table together. After a lovely dawn meal, the ladies got the bill for us. They told us that one day we would be successful and come across two ambitious girls, and that we'd want to do the same.

See, New Yorkers are nice. And that's how you eat for free in NY.
Alright, I'm gonna go hand in a term paper about a D&G ad (awesome, I know) then walk the Brooklyn Bridge or something.
